Here are the Super Cool New Changes:
New Crew Chief Pro 7.970 ( as of 03/05/2023 we have over 17,900 hours of development time in Crew Chief Pro – Hope you like it ):
New Email address is: crewchiefpro50 “at” yahoo.com
( 03/05/2023 ) We revised the TEXT Messaging option with changes that will make this work without interruption. We revised the Prediction screen with reordered fields so that DA appears just below barometric pressure for easier viewing. Also, we added additional Search features on the form. We also added the Base Date, Run Number, Lane, and Time of Day to the Predict screen, so you know what run you are using.
(03/05/2022 – 03/27/2022 ) We revised the Data Entry fields so you don’t need decimal points any longer for Reaction Times, ETs, or MPH fields. This is a real time saver, and fixes automatically any data entry errors regarding decimal places. For example, I have a .008 reaction time, in Crew Chief Pro all I do is enter an “8” and press Enter.
(05/07/2021 – 03/01/2022 ) Refined the HP Correction formulas, and our new formula option in Crew Chief #1 to improve a new weather variable called, “Vapor Point HP Correction.” We refined the Optimal TS Factor formula for throttle stop racers also in the Crew Chief #1 list. We added the ability to change the Vapor Pressure formula to the old Crew Chief #1 formula which was based on Adjusted Altitude only. Racers would use this by double clicking the label to switch between the two formulas quickly. We also improved the Calculate Ratios area for more information to the racer.
(08/07/2020 – 02/14/2021 ) Added a new formula option in Crew Chief #1 to improve a new weather variable called, “Vapor Point HP Correction,” which is an improved HP Correction with water content. We will have a webinar about how this works next month. We refined the REPORTS Menu with new reports as well.
(06/07/2020 – 07/31/2020 ) Added to the REPORTS Menu the ability to print or view reports based on DATE, Database, Only positive reaction times, ( or only RED Lights ). We also added Total Package calculation to the Run Entry TAB. Refined some Prediction formulas as well.
(05/07/2020 – 06/06/2020 ) Added Weight into the Corrected to Standard Conditions calculation. This will automatically adjust the Standard ET based on weight changes. Added HELP for Ultimeter Weather Stations under the Help Menu. You can click on Help Menu and see information on how to setup our new Ultimeter Weather Center, and what to do if it stops functioning.
(05/01/2020 – 05/06/2020 ) Added HELP for TEXT Messaging. You can click on Help Menu and see information on how to setup text messaging option, and what to do if it stops functioning due to an email issue.
(04/01/2020 – 05/01/2020 ) Changed the Corrected to Standard ET calculation to use the lower of two different formulas we previously used. We also added the ability to Search on the Predict ET or Predict Throttle Stop TAB by RIGHT CLICKING on any field in the Current Column.
( 10/01/19 – 12/06/19 ) Starting with version 7.940, there will be some new features. Here is a list of improvements we finished in the last few days. First, in order to test new mathematical formulas we have introduced a quick way to test without hardly any effort. With this procedure it will be like the run you want to analyze has not been made. We attempt to learn each run but sometimes what happened isn’t always apparent. Follow these directions to test our latest formula.
a) Put the Run on the screen that you want to either investigate different formulas -OR- try to create your own formula. Click on PREDICT Tab.
b) We have added a new way to move all the weather readings over to the Current column. You simply Right Click on the BASE RUN label on the top left of the Predict tab.
c) Once you Right Click every weather variable will be copied to the CURRENT Weather Column. Also, the Weather ON button will be automatically changed to Weather is OFF so you can manipulate the formulas without new weather readings overwriting the existing values.
d) Now use the SWITCH TO PREVIOUS Run button on the bottom left to move back to your desired Base Run.
e) Now change to any formula to see what the result would have been.
*******************************
Also, we have invented a two completely new weather formulas. The first one is for Both throttle stop and ET racers called VAPOR HP CORRECTION. This formula has been in development for about a year and testing for 4 months. See screen shots to find out where to see this in action.
*******************************
The Second new formula has been visible for about 2 years but just updated with new features. It is for Throttle Stop racers only, and is called OPTIMAL TS FACTOR. If you check this formula then DO NOT use any other weather factor with it.
( 08/01/2019 – 09/01/2019 ) We now have the ability to change between the two most common HP Correction Factors. The newer SAE J1349 formula or the ( very old but still relevant ) SAE J607 are available. There is a sizeable difference in the values, but the actual difference between runs is nearly identical. The newer J1349 Formula produces a lower value. Either Double Click on the HP Correction value on the Run Entry TAB and answer Yes or No to change it. Or under Weather Station Setup TAB there is a check box for this. Also, we added some info in the upper right for those using Mechanical Injection
( 05/01/2019 – 06/26/2019 ) A new feature in Crew Chief Pro Software is the ability to add fields to your Run Entry TAB. If you want to track something not displayed, then this is where we put it.To do this, Double Click on whatever the Label says that is located in the circled part of the image. Double clicking here will change what fields are visible on the top right. We have fields for normal stuff, then Injected, Manual Transmission stuff, Turbo stuff, and Boosted with nitrous.** Keep Double Clicking until you see the fields you want **
( 03/01/2019 – 03/12/2019 ) Refined the Log Book screen so the Printout Features have more information
( 01/17/2019 – 02/12/2019 ) Refined the Log Book screen so it now calculates the difference between Relative Humidity between the columns as well. We were asked to do this, and it makes sense. Just took an amazing amount of code to do.
( 10/17/2018 – 01/16/2019 ) Refined the Log Book screen and report output to include Ballast and Weight adjustments. Revised the NHRA Tech Cards. Updated the logic that makes sure data entry is controlled better. Fixed the data entry screen for Junior Dragsters.
( 5/01/2018 – 10/16/2018 ) We now allow you to put Different main screen pictures for EACH Database. The Database Setup form has a 3rd Tab where you can double click to choose an image file ( which appears on the Main Run Entry TAB when entering Runs ).
The picture files are optional, so if you don’t choose one the default picture will still appear.
Revised the Team License section to allow overriding the estimated 60 foot times and new weight values. Added more Estimated 60 foot choices. Refined many internal calculations and improved weather recording speeds.
( 4/01/2018 – 05/01/2018 ) Further revised the Log Book STATS form to add a few more fields. Started working on new prediction formulas for corrections to standard conditions.
( 3/06/2018 – 03/23/2018 ) Added something pretty cool. Now on the Log Book Forms you have a new Button called STATS. This calls a Form that displays Averages for Both Right and Left Lanes. You can even Trim the Averages ( where we remove the Hi and Low Values then Average ). Interesting information is displayed. We also display the Difference in Grains between the fields as well. Revised code for new Computech Cloud and Computech finished an update to make their software work better as well.
( 01/11/2018 – 03/05/2018 ) Made revisions to the Computech Cloud code to make it work better. We are waiting on Computech to finish some updates to their software to complete the changes. We added a table rebuild module to protect the main data tables from destruction. If this happens we rebuild the tables for you and transfer data back into them. Damage happens when you turn off the computer while Crew Chief Pro is running, eventually this can cause problems.
( 12/16/2017 – 01/10/2018 ) Made revisions to the Team License forms. Adjust the Estimated 60 Foot or use the Drop Down Lists on 60 foot to automatically change the estimated 60 foot just like on the regular Predict ET or Predict Throttle Stop Tab. Updated the Log Book printout and screens again to add more capability now and into the future.
( 11/18/2017 – 12/15/2017 ) Made revisions to the Corrected to Standard ET calculations. These calculations were fully optimized, proven on customer data and my own runs. I also added new Log Book Printouts for better readability when the number of runs exceeds 10. Previously we spun the report sideways and that report didn’t have the space to display all the information. Now we print multiple one page printouts and it can handle up to 27 runs on 3 printouts.
( 09/14/2017 – 09/18/2017 ) Completely revised the CALCULATE RATIOS screen to be in an order of events similar to the way we usually view runs. We revised the screen, controls, and added both Track Temperature ratio analysis and the new throttle stop formula ratio tester. When Calculating Ratios on Throttle Stop Runs we will explain in the middle of the screen how and why we came up with the ratio. See the image below: We now explain how much we think the weather affected the ET and the Throttle Stop number change is calculated into ETs to see what the math would expect the ET to be. ET Racers will NOT see these fields.
( 08/02/2017 – 09/14/2017 ) Added new changes to Log Book Screens. We now calculate the differences between runs of the 330 foot ( If 1/8th Mile ) or 1000 foot if quarter mile. Makes it easy to see how the runs stack up based on differences at these intervals. Improved the weather station code and added a Diagnostic program to see what the weather station is actually sending us. We improved the code for Track Temperature calculation. Completely revised the CALCULATE RATIOS screen to be in an order of events similar to the way we usually view runs. We revised the screen, controls, and added both Track Temperature ratio analysis and the new throttle stop formula ratio tester.
( 07/17/2017 – 08/01/2017 ) Further revised the factors for Blown Alcohol top dragster and top sportsman formulas ( after Topeka we learned a few things ). We also changed the code that controls Computech Weather Stations. We revised the entry rules for ETs so decimal places are automatically calculated.
( 06/27/2017 – 07/13/2017 ) Revised the factoring module for Supercharged Alcohol fuel types. Now that we have hundreds of customers in Top Dragster and Top Sportsman we have found a better system for predicting them. When you choose this fuel type and click RESET FACTORS it will automatically update to the newest factors.
( 06/02/2017 – 06/26/2017 ) Added TRACK TEMPERATURE to Crew Chief #1 Formula list. When checked it will add the track temp difference into both the 60 foot Estimator and the actual prediction. You can adjust the ratio of ET to temperature. Adds another variable to the prediction we didn’t have before. ONLY affects Crew Chief #1 Formula.
We also added a new formula for Throttle Stop Racers, called Optimal TS Ratio, an experimental formula which does not use any mathematical formula previously tried. This formula is used to predict how much each throttle stop number equals the Optimal setting. There is a factor on both the Small and Large change tabs to control this. We suggest trying this BY ITSELF until we see how it functions. In testing it was very close if the car was dialable. We also VERIFY that the correct ratios are used. Previously we would allow large ratios. Since many racers refer to ratios as large numbers like 2 to 1, we now stop you from literally entering 2.0 in the ratio box, automatically changing the value to the correct .020 number.
We added LANE to the textboxes that show what base run is used on the Predict tabs. See screen below:
We also automatically fix data input errors, for example say your car runs 3.054 at the 1/8th mile. If you enter 3054 without a decimal and press enter we will automatically put the decimal in the right place. This works on all ETs in both Run Entry and Opponent Info TABs. Stops data entry errors instantly. Just press enter and verify the correct values are put in the fields.
( 05/12/2017 – 06/01/2017 ) NHRA changed to a new tech card , they added Emergency Contact and changed where the fields were positioned. My suggestion is add a name and a telephone number in the same field. We repositioned virtually every field, front and back.
We have also added automatic decimal points on the Run Entry and Opponent Information Tabs. So, if you enter 4871 we will change it to 4.871 for you. I was tired of forgetting to put decimals on the Opponent Tab so the update will fix this.
Also, if you enter a run over 10 seconds and you have not setup the database for over 10 second runs we will fix that for you as well. We are trying to speed up data entry by taking some of the complexity and fat fingering errors out of your hands.
We are still running Research and Development on new weather factors. We are mostly concerned with vapor pressure and dew point vs ambient air temp refactoring. I should get to test some changes this weekend at Chicago.
We have added Track Temperature to the Crew Chief #1 Formula which is NOT connected to the Estimated 60 Foot but actually affects ET Calculations separately ( however it can also affect 60 foot as well ). So, if you watch track temp and record it this might be a good predictor as well. Eventually there will be a Rule for this where it is linear to a point, then gets very aggressive as the value reaches a Red Line so to speak.
There are several hundred other improvements as well, but this is already long winded….
( 05/01/2017 – 05/10/2017 ) Changed the Database Add or Modify form. When adding a new database we now stop you from going backwards and causing a blank database. You won’t be able to access the stored name list until you SAVE a new database ( if you click Add New that is ). I changed the HELP MENU so you can access the training videos far easier. Now a form pops up to ask what video choice you want. Before it was a menu and was difficult to pick a video.
( 04/25/2017 – 04/30/2017 ) Added a new weather station that is coming from Altalab. This will be a NON Paging trailer station called the X4 and will be about half the price of a paging system. It required different code than the paging Altalabs so now we have both.
( 01/01/2017 – 01/19/2017 ) Added the ability to Switch Runs right next to the Run Date field on the Upper Left of the screen. Many times I realized the need to switch runs but didn’t want to move the mouse all the way over to the bottom right to do so. Now you can switch runs right next to the Run Date field as well.
Changed the Manual Transmission fields for Turns of Base to allow smaller numbers to be entered as well.
( 12/09/2016 – 0/01/2017 ) Adjusted the 1/8th Mile Run Completion calculation when you choose “330 Foot Momentum” to improve accuracy. Made changes to the code to streamline weather readings to speed up data gathering from weather stations ( Amazing what you can do with today’s new software programming ).
( 12/01/2016 – 12/08/2016 ) Added a new Estimated 60 Foot menu option. Now when you choose “Average 60 Foot for this Database” we will calculate the average 60 foot and put that time into the Estimated 60 Foot field. Useful when the 60 foot has been moving around and you want to average it instead of choosing your own. See the screen shot below.
( 10/01/2016 – 11/26/2016 ) Improved the Margin of Victory and Run Completion analysis module. We added better Margin of Victory analysis for 1/8th mile. We improved the 1/4 mile Run Completion formula when you choose “1000 Foot with Momentum” which doesn’t just take the 1000 ft. time but adds further split time intervals into the answer.
We added the ability to change the color around the Prediction Answer box. Just RIGHT CLICK inside this box and choose any color you want.
We updated the Calculate Ratios Tab formulations as well.
( 08/12/2016 – 09/27/2016 ) Many changes, first we are in the process of Adding Rules to the Crew Chief #1 formula prediction so when weird weather pattern happen you can create a rule to change the factors in a modified quadratic equation. For example, say the Grains jumps 30 numbers and the Grains formula isn’t keeping up enough we allow a rule to tell us when to adjust this factor and how quickly it will adjust. Sounds complicated but our testing showed that over 115 grains that we need to change the ratio, and the resulting predictions were perfect. The factor auto adjusted from 8.25 Grains change = .01 down to .0257 Grains change = .01. This will be going through many changes in the coming weeks as we advance the design and factoring and decide on the rules and control patterns.
We updated the Opponent Tab calculations a bit, made changes to the Team License area for changing Weight and added more decimal precision on the ratios.
( 05/28/2016 – 08/11/2016 ) We revised the Log Book again since over 10 second ETs were not showing up properly. We revised the LIVE TIMING section to add more robust search features. Revised the Live Timing automatic run entry section to allow for weight instead of throttle stop timers for Junior racers. Modified and improved some behind the scene coding of the prediction area to make it faster and prepare for the next implementation of prediction logic ( more about this in the coming weeks ). Revised some Weather searching to include more items to search.
( 05/05/2016 – 05/27/2016 ) Added 1000 Foot to Database Screen. Now you can choose 1/4 Mile, 1/8th Mile, and 1000 Foot. When you pick 1000 Foot we shut off the 1/4 Mile fields on the Run Entry Screen. Also, it automatically does Run Completion off 1/8th Mile when running 1000 Foot. Made many changes to other areas in our constant desire to make the program work better and run faster.
( 04/22/2016 – 05/04/2016 ) Made changes to Calculate Ratios Tab when using Throttle Stops. We will now tell you if we believe the ratio to be correct and why. This should help the confusion customers had with the results. We improved the Log Book once again to fit more items in the form. We updated a bunch of other things behind the scenes that allow the program to work a bit faster. Improved Text Messaging field results.
( 03/20/2016 – 04/20/2016 ) Improved Run Entry by adding a check box to the Car Setup Tab to allow the program to remember certain settings rather than get them from the Database. Settings like Tire Pressure, Launch RPM and a few more were added to the Remembered settings. We also changed the math for 60 Foot Predictions on many choices.
( 03/02/2016 – 03/18/2016 ) Adjusted the default factors for many fuel types to be more in line with our test results. Improved some areas of the Calculate Ratios Tab. Improved the math on Crew Chief #1 formula by adding some checks and balances. Improved the Event Log Book for up to 25 runs on one screen by extending some fields for better viewing.
( 02/07/2016 – 03/01/2016 ) Improved integration with Time Slip Simulator, added features to make it faster and more seamless. Improved the Event Log Book screen and reports, adjusted the NHRA Tech card.
( 02/01/2015 – 02/05/2015 ) Added Calculations to predict 594 foot and 1254 foot ETs for better Run Completion. We have always done this but not displayed them. So now you will get both displayed for Run Completions.
( 01/04 – 02/01/2015 ) Added Time Slip Simulator for Junior Dragsters AS well as big cars. You can now select Dragster, Door Car, and Junior Dragster from the list in your Database and Opponent Tab. The Junior Dragster also has Junior sounds!
( 12/01/2015 – 12/25/2015 ) First 2016 version. Changed the Log Book to handle 25 runs side by side. Spent the last month adding changes to allow the Log Book display screen to show more runs. Previously we could display 15 runs side by side with the analysis of each run. That was fine if you were running Super Classes for the weekend, not nearly enough for a big bracket race weekend.
Now we have stretched and expanded this form to handle 25 runs with mathematical analysis. We even allow you to change how large the form appears on the computer screen. There is full screen mode which tries to compress the information so you can see more of it, and the Normal mode which requires you use the Scroll Bar to move the form over to see more runs.
Under the Log View Menu you can choose Full Screen or Normal view. This revision took 1000 lines of code amazingly enough.
( 10/02/2015 – 11/22/2015 ) Added enough new features to create our new version which is 7.90. We added a new feature where we calculate the ET Corrected to Standard Conditions. This means we will show what the ET would be if the weather was considered perfect. We now calculate the Standard ET to include changes in weight of the vehicle. We also calculate Standard ET for throttle stop changes if you are running one.
( 09/18/2015 – 10/01/2015 ) Added a button on the Prediction TAB called “SEARCH WEATHER”. This button will pop up a screen like this :
When you click on this button you can now Search weather parameters using multiple variables. For example, I needed to Search for Density Altitude of 2000 feet with a Barometric Pressure reading of 27.90. When I choose both variables we will show all the runs you have that are similar. You may recall that we already have the ability to search by single variables, but now you can choose virtually any important weather pattern combination.
( 06/24/2015 – 09/17/2015 ) Added a Slow Responding Computer check box on the Weather Station Setup TAB to help when computers react slowly to weather readings. This is used mostly with Altalab weather stations. We added more memory allocation to Crew Chief Pro, now we take the maximum amount of free memory possible for faster speeds. We updated some prediction logic and factors to improve accuracy.
We added a Weather Report Screen now to visually show the weather readings and SORT them by any weather factor. This screen is located on the Weather Graphs TAB. We added some checks and balances on the weather readings so that when we see a weather reading out of line we can resolve it.
( 06/22/2015 – 06/23/2015 ) Added new videos under the HELP MENU, one is the 5 step process my wife Michelle designed, and the other is the JUNIOR DRAGTER webinar we had a few months ago. These videos require internet access in order to view.
( 05/18/2015 – 06/22/2015 ) Added Blown Alcohol fuel type and factors. If you run Top Dragster or Top Sportsman with a blower and on alcohol then choose this option to use the beginning factors that work well. Keep in mind these factors work great for most cars that don’t overpower the track, but they are a starting point. If the car works and follows weather then Calculate Ratios should be checked if the predictions are not within .01. We updated and revised a few of the formulas for the rest of the predictions. We fixed the Your Chosen Formula drop down list placement where it was covered up on some monitors. We revised the NHRA tech card and are in the process of adding a few more track’s tech cards as well. For TEAM LICENSE customers we have added the ability to predict up to 5 vehicles at once. An important note, running 5 cars at once adds about 1 million calculations, so make sure the computer you are using is fairly new. We have upgraded the Time Slip Simulator integration as well. There are about 500 things behind the scenes we improved to make the program a bit faster.
( 03/29/2015 – 05/27/2015 ) Updated Default Factors for common fuel types. Improved weather gathering for Performaire and Altalab Weather Stations. We came up with better information for power saving features to make sure the weather station port didn’t get shut off by the computer. We took off anything that says EZ Plate system because they didn’t like it. We are sorry to the two people we tried to help on this. We also added some new features to make the Factors Tab more understandable. Now when it sees high DA changes it will automatically show the large weather factors tab. We also recommend a change to our #1 Formula and try our Humidity and HP Correction together. For small cubic inch stockers it worked very well in testing.
( 03/11/2015 – 03/28/2015 ) Added support for the new version of Time Slip Simulator which can now work on your PC without having to have internet each time. You still need internet to download the Time Slip Simulator files but from that point on it will work within Crew Chief Pro. To purchase this subscription either call us or use the Buy On-Line Menu above.
( 01/29 /2015 – 03/10/2015 ) Further refined Crew Chief #1 Prediction Formulas, with new checks and balances code to make sure everything is right. Before we didn’t choose a default formula and now we do. We revised the code for Time Slip Simulator to make the next version of their program interface perfectly as well. We changed how the weight comes over from the Databases, especially important for multi car teams. Aligned the NHRA tech card again, wish they would stop messing with it…. We made changes to the Event LogBook code to show Run Completed Runs in Bright Red above each column. Further revised the Calculate Ratios section for better analysis of throttle stop runs.
( 01/13/2015 – 01/28/2015 ) We finished integrating Time Slip Simulator with Crew Chief Pro Software. This is an annual subscription to get their service, and it will be invaluable to train racers on top end driving. We will begin taking orders for this today 01/28/2015. We are really excited about this, the power it provides is incredible. Don’t miss out on this, order it today.
( 01/09/2014 – 01/12/2014 ) BIG NEWS! Started work on incorporating Crew Chief Pro with the Time Slip Simulator. Eventually we will be able to fire up their simulator every time you enter opponents information. As soon as this is ready we will announce it to the drag racing world. Their web site is http://www.timeslipsim.com
We also made changes to the Paging Enabled versions for both Paging and Text Messaging. Some were experiencing issues and changed some things to make sure there could be no issues.
( 01/03/2015 – 01/08/2015 ) Made changes to the Switch Runs buttons on the Predict ET and Predict Throttle Stop screen. More changes to the Search Screens. Refined internal procedures to make sure invalid factors are automatically corrected.
( 12/17/2014 – 01/02/2015 ) More changes to the new Crew Chief #1 Formula. We revised a few weather factors and logic to make it work even better. First of the big 2015 updates!
( 11/11/2014 – 12/16/2014 ) Big News! New version 7.80 is out today. We have added a completely revamped Crew Chief #1 Prediction Formula. Not as many people use Crew Chief #1 Prediction so I decided to test new formulas to replace it. What I came up with is a User Chosen Formula where my customers can choose any combination of weather to affect Crew Chief #1’s Predictions. Keep in mind, if you don’t want to change Crew Chief #1 then it won’t change. To use this feature you must LEFT CLICK on the Crew Chief #1 Prediction answer, then this screen will appear. If after trying the new formula you want to go back to the original formula simply click on the button that says “Use Old Formula”.
Now you can choose the EXACT Weather Choices you want included in the Crew Chief #1 Prediction. If you want Adjusted Altitude and Grains of Water then put a check in their respective checkboxes. If you look closely you will see the last choice is a Vapor HP Correction, which is a new math formula I created and it has shown progress.
So why did I add complexity into the program? For my “Power Users” who really put effort into analyzing weather patterns this will allow precise predictions. For novice users it will allow you to tinker and learn what these weather terms mean to your car. I believe this will work far better for those racers with Blowers, or Nitrous Oxide.
The FACTORS that control these predictions are unique to this formula, so your Vapor Pressure and Your Way formulas are unchanged. Those Factors are to the right of the Check Boxes. This will be an excellent tool to see which formula works better and why.
We also fixed the weather transfer on New Runs. Before it would bring up the weather choice screen for you to choose, now that screen will appear much less than before. It has been a busy month.
( 10/02/2014 – 11/11/2014 ) Updated the Weather Transfer function when entering a New Run. Some were reporting problems where the weather at the time of the run was not transferred over to the new run, and this update will find and correct that problem.
( 09/18/2014 – 10/01/2014 ) More big news! A very major upgrade to our Crew Chief Pro Software. On the Predict ET or Predict Throttle Stop screen you will be able to RIGHT CLICK on any Current Weather field and Crew Chief Pro will search for all runs similar to whatever you chose. No more going back to the Run Data tab and using the Search Menu. Now you can search far easier.
Next, the bottom of the screen will change to allow you to Choose a Different BaseLine Run right on the Predict Screen. Again, no more going out to the Run Data tab and choosing a different run. Keep in mind we will stay in the same database.
We have seen several customers with odd sized screen where the Predict Formula drop down list is not where we want it. So now you can Right Click on the list and change the coordinates of where it will be from that point on. You can change the Height and Left hand position.
Here is a screen shot:
( 08/12/2014 – 09/17/2014 ) Big Changes !!! Announcing Crew Chief Pro 7.700 version! This new version takes advantage of some new Prediction Logic based on multiple weather factoring. What that means to Drag Racers is we can now Predict ETs or Predict Throttle Stops better than before. How? We have designed the program to have TWO sets of Prediction Factors. One set for runs during the day where the DA doesn’t change as much, and another set for when the DA changes dramatically, such as when a weather front moves in. You probably have seen this happen, it is 85 degrees one day and the next it is 59 degrees. While the old way was OK for huge changes like this, there were some shortcomings. Now we can tackle these conditions with ease and not mess up your normal factors.
We also added different 60 Foot Predictions to coincide with the Pro 7.700 version. Calculate Ratios has changed as well, we will automatically update the correct set of factors based on what runs you use. What you will see is on the FACTORS Tab there is another TAB that says “Small Weather Changes” and one that says “Large Weather Changes”. You can adjust one without bothering the other.
What do you have to do? NOTHING, just download and run Crew Chief as usual. We will add fields to your existing Prediction Factor tables automatically, and populate them with good base factors. You can use it without worrying about anything as it will automatically use the different set of factors when it needs to.
( 08/06/2014 – 08/11/2014 ) Made even more changes, especially for Weight vs. ET. Now instead of entering the amount of weight you added we have change this to read BALLAST Weight Added. Some were confused about two weight fields ( for good reason ). Now it will say PREDICT BALLAST instead of Predict Weight. We also changed some other labels to be better descriptive. This works on both Juniors and Big Cars where ballast is used to adjust ET. We FIXED the Database setup screen when you chose Ballast Prediction it was not keeping your choice.
( 08/02/2014 – 08/05/2014 ) Lots of changes again! For Crew Chief Pro customers who use weight to adjust ET then we have made many improvements. Not only to the Junior Dragster predictions but even full size cars and bikes. Weight ratio testing has been improved in the Calculate Ratios TAB. Huge improvement in finding the correct weight ratios. We fixed the weight ratios on the Factors TAB that would change without your knowledge also. For those who use weight to Predict then Calculate Ratios will now show improved calculations on the important factors.
We also added to the REPORTS MENU the ability to see just the lights over .000 and see the Averages for these runs. We also allow you to average just the red lights. Click on REPORTS Menu on the Top of the Screen. Choose the report you want and look for the Check Boxes on the bottom part that allow you to decide if you want just runs over .000 lights or not.
We now allow you to enter 594 foot ETs if your track shows this. To make this work go to the TRACKS MENU and choose the track where you race. On the bottom of the screen are check boxes for 4 Digit Precision and Show 594 Foot ETs. Make sure you save changes.
( 07/29/2014 – 08/02/2014 ) Version 2014-0802-F. We made changes to how the weather stations interact with Crew Chief Pro. We spent quite a bit of time with the Performaire trailer station modules. Previously we took 4 readings then saved the weather information. This could be a problem since we didn’t always get 4 readings in a row which means we lost several minutes in between. Now we take readings every 15 seconds and make SURE we store them every minute regardless of how many readings we get. We updated the Davis Instruments module for this as well. The Altalab always worked well but we made the same code changes to this weather module as well, just to be sure. We continued development changes on the Junior Dragster version as well.
( 07/15/2014 – 07/29/2014 ) Made many changes. Updated the IHRA tech card, changed the Cordova Tech Card, changed how weight works on the Junior Dragster version, updated the Finish Line Manager screen and Printout. We revised the ET Predictions especially the Late Night with Humidity, which we also modified specially for the Junior Dragsters. We made changes for the Performaire PCs to make sure we get weather readings consistently and store it more often. Before we waited for 4 readings and stored it, but now we check to see if it has been over a minute to store the results. Made a few revisions to the Davis Weather Station module for the same reason. We also changed how we display the Weight Prediction for the Junior Dragsters, as well as big cars who may be trying to change weight to hit an index.
For Junior Dragsters the recommended formula to use is the LATE NIGHT WITH HUMIDITY, or the HP Correction Factor one. Also, you may want to use Humidity Adjusted 60 foot or the HP Corrected 60 foot to get the Estimated 60 foot closer.
( 06/19/2014 – 07/15/2014 ) Revised several prediction formulas again. We have added more support for Junior Dragsters and Weight Predictions. We now allow higher ratios for Juniors. We added a few cool new features. We now allow you to choose what decimal precision you need. Under the TRACKS Menu you can now tell Crew Chief Pro which tracks allows up to 4 digit precision. There is a Check Box on the Track Adding Screen which uses T or F ( for True or False ) to tell us to change precision. When you add a run it will accept the entire ET. For example, 10.3456 is now allowed when you set it up to do so. Any track you don’t change will default to 3 digit precision. We are working on finishing the Log Book printouts to have the same precision as well. We revised the Finish Line Manager Report with more information, changed the Cordova Dragway Tech Card, revised the NHRA tech card, and we added a RESTORE button to the SEARCH Screen Options in case you make a mistake on which fields to use.
( 06/10/2014 – 06/18/2014 ) We have made quite a few changes on the Predict ET and Predict Throttle Stop logic, as well as the Estimated 60 Foot section. We renamed the Weather Adjusted 60 Foot to “Density Adjusted 60 Foot” and we added a new item in the list called “DA with Baro and Humidity 60 Foot”. The Density Adjusted 60 foot has been revised slightly. The DA with Baro and Humidity closely follows DA while adjusting the 60 foot for excessive Humidity and Baro changes. After getting caught with a huge change in Humidity last weekend I decided that DA by itself wasn’t good enough and Humidity by itself wasn’t working as well, so I wrote this new formula. For example, this weekend the DA dropped 530 feet but the RH went up 32.9% and everyone’s 60 foot took a hit. The Humidity Adjusted 60 foot was close but the new formula was dead on the the thousandth. If you can estimate your 60 foot better than your opponent your Predictions will be much better. We keep innovating and trying new formulas to make Crew Chief the best it has ever been.
We further refined the Crew Chief #1 Formula for Both ET and Throttle Stop Predictions. We added the same 60 foot predictions to the TEAM LICENSE version of Crew Chief Pro as well.
( 06/10/2014 ) After numerous tests we have decided to change a few things on the ET and Throttle Stop Prediction Tab. First, the Estimated 60 Foot drop down list has “Weather Adjusted 60 Foot” which always worked well. We have added a degree of Humidity and Barometric Pressure to the equation, as well as Density Altitude and it appears to work better now. It was nearly perfect this weekend.
Secondly, we have revised Crew Chief #1 Formula which is based on Adjusted Altitude. We have also added to the formula to include more Humidity changes. In our testing of high humidity situations this formula was far better than the previous design.
Third, we found that when creating new databases the default formula was being changed, so that is fixed. We adjusted the NHRA tech card slightly, updated the Log Book form and many other changes.
( 05/13/2014 – 06/04/2014 ) Sorry, been a bit slow getting updates because my wife was injured in a horse fall. We have added some interesting features. First, we are testing a formula change when the DA and Baro get worse or better. If they get worse then the changes become BRIGHT ORANGE to let you know the dreaded “double whammy” may happen to performance. This term is used to describe a weather condition where the jetting moves out of bounds due to poor baro and high DA and your performance will suffer more than you think. On the inverse if they both get better the changes become BRIGHT GREEN to denote enhanced performance which may be faster than we think. After we get done testing the formula will be more aggressive, especially on gas engines. We will let you know how it comes out.
( 05/06/2014 – 05/12/2014 ) Made changes to the JUNIOR DRAGSTER version so you can tell us how much WEIGHT you added in the bottom left of the screen. We will then calculate how much weight you should need to run if you run an Index Class ( i.e. 7.90 , 8.90 , 11.90 ). This will work much like a throttle stop and display Weight in giant letters rather than the ET Prediction you more commonly saw. Here is what it looks like AFTER you tell us in the Database Setup Screen that you want to Predict with Weight.
To activate this you must change the Database as shown below on the SETUP INFO PAGE 2 Tab.
CALL ME if you can’t figure this out. Once you do it a few times it will be very easy to remember.
We also fixed the missing Calculated Horsepower value on the Run Entry Tab.
( 04/22/2014 – 05/05/2014 ) After helping customers at the big Junior Dragster race put on by the Midwest Junior Dragster group we made many changes. We changed the program to remember weight ( especially important for the Junior Dragster Version ). When racers changed weight we didn’t remember it, we always reverted back to the weight stored in the Database. Now if the weight change is less than 50 lbs. we will keep the previous weight. We also refined the weight to ET Prediction factors. We are in the process of creating the ability to tell Junior racers how much weight will need to be changed in order to run a 7.90 or 8.90 index. Hopefully ready next week.
We made plenty of changes for the big car version. Most will be things you don’t see which make the program faster. We added another log book printout and changed some stuff on the Search Screen also.
( 04/16/2014 – 04/22/2014 ) Finished the Mechanical Throttle Stop update so now Crew Chief Pro will calculate which size you need to have for the next run. It will even send this information to the Pager or Text Message if you have those options.
( 04/11/2014 – 04/15/2014 ) BIG Changes ! First, I have decided to make the Crew Chief Pro program faster by removing seldom used procedures from the main file to individual files. This will reduce the size of the main part of the program by 40% and should increase the speed of execution ( well it does in our testing at least — by a bunch ).
Second, we have removed two prediction formulas and replaced them with two simpler versions. Very few customers ever used them since they were about half way down in the list. The people who asked for them originally realized they weren’t as useful as they had hoped anyway, plus I have never been happy with the Relative Humidity & Half DA and the Dew Point and Half DA so they are gone. In their places will be:
Density Altitude with Dew Point
Density Altitude with Relative Humidity
In our testing both of these formulas were much better, plus many racers were hand calculating them so I will make it easier for them.
Third, we made changes *again* to the Computech weather station data link. I am not sure why we were having problems getting their HP Correction and density altitude numbers to come over but now it should be fine.
( 04/01/2014 – 04/10/2014 ) Made many changes. We added a NEW FORMULA in the Prediction Formula List. This one is based on Temp, Humidity, Baro, Grains, and Density Altitude. It will adjust the prediction based on the individual weather readings, PLUS the DA and Grains, however, the DA Factor should be far more than you normally run or it will be too aggressive on gas engines. Contact us for good starting factors for this setup.
We also put the ability to PRINT the FINISH LINE MANAGER Screen, and the FACTORS Screen. We made more improvements to the Log Book printout and added the same features to the WEIGHT Adjusted Log Book ( for Juniors or others who want to adjust weight quite a bit this is for you ! ).
( 02/23/2014 – 03/31/2014 ) Made changes to Finish Line Manager because there was a problem with comparisons on 9.90 and 8.90 Index ETs. Updated weather interface with all the weather stations concerning Adjusted Altitude. Made BIG Changes to the Log Book Screen and Printout !! We now show the difference in Reaction Times between each Column, the difference in 60 Foot between each Column, the difference in Density Altitude, and the difference in HP Correction Factors as well. Very useful tool to analyze your runs. See below for a picture.
Updated the NHRA Tech Card also. We finished the Throttle Stop Adjusted 60 Foot for those of you who’s throttle stop comes back to full throttle within the 60 foot area. This will automatically adjust the Estimated 60 foot to bring this into the consideration of how the throttle stop prediction should change.
( 02/05/2014 – 02/22/2014 ) Made improvements to many parts of the program. First, in the Log Book Screen and Printout View we added the Differences between the 60 foot times from one run to the next. This is just like we did below with the Split Time Differences. Very useful tool to compare runs when we calculate the difference for you so it frees up some time you would normally waste figuring it out. Second, we added Averages to the SEARCH Screens. So when you do a Search we will display :
Average Reaction Time in Both Lanes
Average 60 Foot
Average 1/8th Mile ET and MPH
Average Quarter Mile ET and MPH.
We changed some of the Text Messaging code to prevent conflicts with timers that run in the Crew Chief Program. We are also adding some new track tech cards this weekend, namely Gainesville Bracket Race Cards since I race there a few times this winter.
( 01/20/2014 – 02/04/2014 ) New Version: 7.60 . Added new IHRA national and divisional race tech cards but since the only thing I have is a copy it will have to be close until I get another tech card. We changed some of the Margin of Victory calculations for 1/8th Mile. Lots of other internal changes.
By the way, if you are having problems with weather gathering then call me, I am watching some issues only one or two are having.
( 01/19/2014 ) We added LANE to the Calculate Ratios TAB so you can make sure you compare same lane runs if possible.
( 01/09/2014 ) Changed the Single Run Printout because some customers were experiencing ***** in the ET field if they were over 10 Second ETs. We widened the field so this won’t happen on version 2014.0110-a.
( 01/052014 – 01/08/2014 ) Added new Log Book Screen with Split Time Differences. Before we had split times BUT now we have Split Times and next to these are the differences in Split Times between runs. We also have a new Report with the same information you can print out. See the screen shots below:
If you RIGHT CLICK on the Form then these calculations disappear.
( 01/01/2014 – 01/04/2014 ) BIG NEWS for Junior Dragsters and Sportsman Racers! For Juniors we added a much better Car Setup TAB with a new Individual Run Report. We added the same for Sportsman racers also. Take a look at the Junior Car Setup Tab and Individual Run Report below. Changes are made every day, so if you have ideas here let us know, Please.
Here is the Sportsman Individual Run Report Below.
We also added new fields for the Junior Dragster Version, plus new graphics for all versions.
We changed the Tire Growth Calculation on the Run Entry TAB to reflect the difference in the Initial Size of the tire. Before we told you the total size of the tire in the traps, now we just tell you how many inches it grew from its initial size. NOTE: this only works if you have a data acquisition system that tells you what the Drive Shaft RPM ( or Jack Shaft in a junior ). We need to know the gear ratio and the initial tire rollout also.
( 12/26/2013 ) We had requests for one report that will show the ET, the Chassis Setup, the Fuel Setup, the Weather, and Comments. So now in Beta testing is our first attempt. Some people in Comp Eliminator, Stock, and Super Stock asked for this. If you click on the CAR SETUP Tab you will see PRINT REPORT on the bottom Right. This will show this report which you can also send to your printer. Keep in mind this is first attempt and we will be adding them for EFI, Blowers, Juniors and more. This is perfect for people who change the car setup all the time looking for ET.
We added new graphics for the Junior Dragster version and a separate Car Setup Tab for Juniors.
( 10/10/2013 – 10/19/2013 ) We just finished a new update for the Computech trailer stations. Previously if their weather station wasn’t connected it caused all sorts of problems with their software, we now have an update that you can decide if you don’t want their weather software to launch automatically when Crew Chief Pro starts. If you go to the Weather Station Setup TAB under the Predict ET or Predict Throttle stop tab you will find the check box on the right about half way down. Uncheck it to stop automatic weather gathering. If you click Weather Is ON button it will start automatically feeding the weather as usual.
( 10/03/2013 – 10/10/2013 ) For customers with Paging options on their Performaire PC stations we changed the order in which pages come over. If you have the XLITE transmitter you are limited to 100 characters, and we have 160 characters that come over. This meant the Predictions were on the first page and you had to manually use the left arrow button to move back. Previously we had Predictions first and then the second page was all the weather readings. Now we have weather readings first, and Predictions second. So now you see Predictions, then if you want to see specific weather you can Left Arrow back.
We also added a field for the ET change in Dew Point. Previously we used the Humidity ET field for either Humidity or Dew Point depending on Formulas chosen.
We also changed the Run Completion calculation Tab to include 1/8th Mile ET information. If you choose Run Completion off the 1/8th mile then this will be more relevant.
We also changed the Density Altitude Prediction. It used to include Grains automatically, but after some complaints we removed Grains from the equation.
( 10/02/2013 – 10/03/2013 ) Added Average Reaction Time in Both Left and Right Lanes to the bottom of the SEARCH Screen. Every time you click on Search for anything Crew Chief will show you the average reaction time in both lanes.
( 08/25/2013 – 10/02/2013 ) Added improvements in several areas. Created a new Run Completion calculation called Momentum Run Completion. This was tested extensively on the 1/8th mile where the Run Completion using the 330 foot time simply wasn’t accurate enough. New formula will use the split time analysis from the 60 – 330 interval plus the calculated 330 to 660 interval to come up with the new No Brake ET. We also added this formula for 1/4 mile but we are still testing it.
We added new factoring for Calculate Ratios especially for Temperature and tested it for 6 weeks with excellent results.
( 08/02/2013 – 08/21/2013 ) Added the ability to compare HP Correction on the Pager Output and the Text Message Output. So if you choose this in the Weather Station Setup TAB ( #5 section ) it will show you the HP Correction Factor and how much it is UP or Down from the previous run. We also worked on a bunch of small stuff trying to make the program faster and refined the Junior Dragster stuff a bit more.
( 07/27/2013 – 08/01/2013 ) Added more stuff for Junior Dragsters. Now in the Fuel type drop down list on the Database Setup Form and the FACTORS TAB you can choose both Junior Dragster and a 12.90 Junior Dragster. The 12.90 factors are far different than normal Juniors. Also, we found an issue in our software with Computech weather stations and fixed it. Make sure you download their latest Weather Pro Software also if you are using a Computech. The little propeller on my head is spinning with new ideas so more to come soon.
( 07/24/2013 – 07/26/2013 ) ATTENTION JUNIOR DRAGSTER RACERS: We have changed the Factors for your type of racing. If your car speeds up when the temperature gets hotter then this update will be important to you. Here is how it works, on the Factors TAB there is a drop down list of Fuel Types. We added Junior Dragster on Alcohol to this list. Write down the Existing factors before you change to this option. After selecting Junior Dragster on Alcohol then click RESET FACTORS on the bottom right, Save the Factors and test it. If you have a 12.90 car then call me for suggestions on factors.
( 06/02/2013 – 07/23/2013 ) Added HP Correction Factor to Run Entry TAB. If your weather station calculates it then we display it, otherwise we will calculate the number for you. Sped up prediction tab by removing extra calls to weather stations.
( 05/03/2013 – 06/01/2013 ) Added files into the update to combat security settings on your computers that stopped the instructional videos from playing. Overzealous security settings locked down our videos for some weird reason so if your videos don’t play then this update should help. Updated REPORTS MENU to include some new reports and different sorting order.
( 04/11/2013 – 05/02/2013 ) Added the ability to change Log Book Views in EACH Database you create. Right now there are two to choose from BUT the possibilities are endless. If you want a particular set of data on your Log Book Printout or Screen then let us know so we can add it. We added WEIGHT to the Log Book screen and printout if you select it. To use this feature just click on DATABASES on the menus at the top. Select the Database you want and go to the Throttle Stop / Misc Info TAB. Look on the bottom right for the list of Log Books and choose the one you want.
We also added changes to the Pager Output for more information on Performaire PCs with pagers. We also changed the Graph Runs TAB to show more information with check boxes to add other weather variables. We will be adding several more weather stations over the next few weeks to the list of systems we will communicate with.
( 04/05/2013 – 04/10/2013 ) Made changes to the Backup and Restore features to make sure all the necessary files came over to the backup drive. Finalized the Kestrel 4250, Computech Race Air and Race Air Pro automatic integration. Plus some other stuff you won’t care about that helps stabilize the program.
( 03/17/2013 – 04/04/2013 ) Lots of changes to make weather stations work a bit better. Most of you won’t notice anything, and that is OK. Finished live linking with Kestrel 4250 so when you get the download kit from us it will function just like a trailer station.
( 02/27/2013 – 03/14/2013 ) Changed the menu around a bit for the Watch Instructional Videos. Add the Team License Video to the menu also for easier viewing. Began work on new USB adapters for Windows 8.0.
( 02/25/2013 – 02/27/2013 ) Finished the new Temperature Checkbox adjustment. This checkbox is next to the Current Temperature on the Predict ET or Throttle Stop TAB. Clicking it will increase the rate of Temperature ET Adjustment when used with the first two formulas, plus the Late Night Temp formula.
( 02/15/2013 – 02/25/2013 ) Added a few reports to the REPORTS Menu that will now give you the Average for all your runs for Dates you give us. Now at the end of the report the Average for every performance value is calculated. We updated the Finish Line Manager because an error apparently caused by my cat walking across the keyboard that I just found ( there is actually a name for this – it is called Kitty Keyboarding ). He walks on my keyboard all the time, sometimes he sleeps on it when I am dumb enough to keep it out. NEW: We have a SEVEN HOUR training DVD that is available ( yes, 7 hours ) which covers everything the program can do, from simple to complex. When installed it will update all the Instructional Videos under the HELP MENU. There are cool helpful graphics, and we try to answer every question from the basics to the power user. It is $29.95 and worth the money. It took several months to complete the project.
( 02/05/2013 – 02/15/2013 ) Added the ability to change the Text Color on the Run Entry TAB where the picture is in the middle of the screen. Now you can choose ANY color for the text that sits on top of the picture! We also updated the Database Entry Screens, and updated Calculate Ratios again.
( 01/14/2013 – 02/05/2013 ) Added Ratio Testing limits for weather to make sure Density Altitude and Adjusted Altitude could not go out of parameters and cause prediction issues. Refined the ET Prediction ratios on Calculate Ratios. Refined the Margin of Victory calculations to eliminate some confusion on how we described who was in the lead at certain points. Refined the Corrected Standard ET calculation which was not updating until after you entered a run. It will now update right after the weather fields. Lots of other technical stuff internally in the program that you won’t care to know…
( 12/1/2012 – 01/14/2013 ) Added additional weather station support for Davis Instruments to correct issues with barometric pressure.
( 11/01/2012 – 11/29/2012 ) Further refined new temperature control factor after reviewing numerous customer data and my own. Refined the new plain paper NHRA tech card for use in national events only. I received clarification that the Division races will still need to use the regular tech card. I will try to find out if IHRA will allow me to do this. We are working on a new training CD which will come out in December and will cover 2 hours of what is new and how to use all the features in Crew Chief. Price hasn’t been determined yet.
( 10/03/2012 – 10/30/2012 ) Lots of changes. We have changed the Temperature Control Factor from predicting how many thousandths of ET per 1 degree of temperature to now it will Predict based on how many degrees it takes to change the ET by .01. On Gas most vehicles take 2 degrees to 2 and a half degrees per .01. On Alcohol it will be twice that amount or more. Crew Chief will automatically adjust the factor based on calculating from the existing factor. This will be easier to understand and adjust. We also added NHRA tech cards which you can print WITHOUT an actual Tech card. It will print on plain paper. It may not work on Divisional races but should be accepted at national events.
( 09/24/2012 – 10/03/2010 ) Updated reports. Added an automatic calculator for Adjusted Altitude on the Run Entry TAB. If your weather station doesn’t have AA then we will calculate it for you ( if you leave the Weather Station Adjusted Altitude at ZERO ). We added a better explanation of the Weight Factor located on the Factors TAB to indicate what it means in ET. We also updated the Estimated 60 Foot predictor because before if the number went too far it would revert to the baseline 60 foot, now it will stop at a certain number. The rest of the changes were a blur because I raced so many rounds lately I can’t remember every change I made. 🙂
( 09/21/2012 – 09/24/2012 ) Added Estimated 60 Foot time to the Comments Section on the Run Entry TAB. So if you have a trailer weather station we will also show you what 60 foot we were predicting at the time of your pass. We also updated the LIVE TIMING Menu area for use with 1320go.com.
( 08/15/2012 – 09/21/2012 ) Added CURRENT WEATHER to the LOGBOOK Screen. Now you will see a button that says “CW” right below the Return Icon button. If you click “CW” ( for Current Weather ) then the weather from the Prediction Screen will appear in a separate box so you can compare the weather currently to the runs in the Log Book. Very useful feature. We Added a fail safe for people who accidentally enter the wrong Date. Some people must be very bad at fat fingering the keyboard because I see way too many races entered where the date is 20 years or more into the future. Now if the date is more than 90 days from the computer Date then we will pop up a box and tell you we are going to change the date. We also restored Relative Air Density to the Prediction form instead of Air Density Ratio. If this bothers some people then I will add a setup prompt to let you decide what goes on the prediction form. We changed the NHRA Tech Card so it prints better on the back. We added an automatic Delay Box change. If you tell us you have more than zero in the Delay Box on the Database form then we will automatically show delay boxes. Before some customers forgot to tell us to show delay box so we fixed it. We updated the LIVE TIMING Printouts so they have better information. Plus about 1000 other changes that I can’t remember since I work on this software every single day…
( 07/19/2012 – 08/14/2012 ) Changed the way opponents are looked up. Now if you have multiple people under one number a List will appear asking you to select the proper driver for that car number. We changed the Margin of Victory for Competition Eliminator type of racing ( as well as heads up class racing ) to reflect a lack of breakouts. We changed the name of the first two prediction formulas to what they actually use to predict. Now they will say “Temp, Barometer and Dew Point” and “Temp, Barometer and Relative Humidity”.
( 07/03/2012 – 07/18/2012 ) Big changes! Added another run completion calculation. Now you can even Run Complete a 1/4 Mile run using 1000 Foot, or off 1/8th – 1000 ft split intervals, and now even off 1/8th Mile. We also added a new drop down list on the factors screen that will allow you to choose type of race fuel. Now the list includes Race Gas, Alcohol, Q-16 Gas, E-85 Mix, and Nitrous Oxide. When you choose one the base factors will automatically update if you choose based on our experience. We also added support for Competition Eliminator Opponent Comparison. Now it won’t show you broke out if you select this setting on the opponent screen.
( 06/22/2012 – 07/03/2012 ) Added further support for Computech weather stations automatic weather feed. Updated factor controls to stop some factors from accidentally being changed to high or low. Refined the Vapor Pressure, Grains, and Wind factor controls. Started work on a new formula that should be out next week.
( 06/19/2012 – 06/22/2012 ) Update the Live Timing section. If 1320go.com does not send the dial in on a throttle stop car then the predictions would not use a default time such as 8.90, 9.90 or 10.90. Now if they don’t send the target ET or dial in we will look it up in the Database and fill it in.
Changed the Log Book Printouts and screen display. On the Printout of the Log Book we now moved everything over so customers using 3 hole punched paper don’t get anything cut off in the printout.
On the Log Book Screen we changed the DA to the customer entered DA instead of our DA Calculation.
We also are hearing reports of computers shutting down because the generator dies. This will damage some files over time and we have now built in more advanced table testing procedures to verify the table before we try to read it. The most common table damaged was the weather station database since it was always the last file open when hooked to a paging weather station. We now completely rebuild it if anything weird is found. We also completely backup the file each time we use it and copy the contents to a text file as a third backup.
We changed the name of the Throttle Stop OPTIMAL field label to read “T-Stop Perfect #:”. This is what would have been the perfect throttle stop timer on the run, in order to run right on the index.
We changed the checkbox under the Arrow Keys which move a run one at a time to read “Show All Databases”. It used to just read ALL since that is all the room we had. Now I moved things around so it is easier to understand.
Plus we improved about 100 internal items that you won’t see in a continuing effort to make the program faster. It is now much faster than even Crew Chief Pro 5 was and Pro 7.50 is about 50 times larger in size. The development software has new file indexing that is much smaller and faster and we are taking advantage of this. The weather table on many customers is growing to over 100 megs which is huge, yet Crew Chief is able to find one time, on any single day in less than 18 milliseconds. Yes, that is sweet…
( 06/15/2012 – 06/18/2012 ) Changed Text Messaging again to take up less room but still give all the weather data, changed the Screen Logbook form to use Your weather station DA instead of Crew Chief’s. Changed color around the Calculate Ratio’s Baseline Run so customers can find it easier. Also added code that if multiple vehicles are being used the ADD NEW RUN button will not find the largest number and mess up data entry. Now if you have 3 cars it will just put Run Number “0” in and you will have to decide which run number to use. If just one car it will still work normally by finding the next number to use automatically. We refined the Run Completion calculation again for use with the Split Time Interval method.
( 06/01/2012 – 06/15/2012 ) Changed the Text Messaging to include Wind Speed and Direction before we display Grains because many phones have a text limit and the Wind Speed and Direction were not coming over. We will have a setup change coming where you can decide to do this or revert to the previous display. We made refinements to numerous items to increase processing speed, especially when averaging formulas. We refined the 60 foot predictions and put a few rules in place when the 60 foot changed to much. We changed the screen resolution to work better with laptops. Fixes were made to the way you can change background colors, before if you accidentally double clicked on a box then we brought up a Color Picker box, most of the time you didn’t want to change colors. So now we ask you if you want to change colors and we don’t allow super dark colors because then you can’t read the prompts.
( 05/30/2012 – 05/31/2012 ) Big Changes both internally and visually on the CALCULATE RATIOS Tab. We have been testing a variation of the HP Correction factor and have decided to change the correlation a bit from standards. We found through testing there is a better prediction logic by including another variable into the calculation and it seems to predict right on. We have made changes to this screen so the ET racers can’t click on Adjust For Weather check box ( since that is all you can adjust for ). This will now eliminate *some* confusion when analyzing runs. The Adjust for Weather check box will still function for Throttle Stop Racers. Our testing at Immokolee and St. Louis showed that predictions were spot on, however my driving stunk the place up.
( 05/23/2012 – 05/30/2012 ) Added Woodburn Dragway to the list of tracks we print Tech Cards for. Made several other changes to improve speed, especially if you pick multiple formulas at once. Changed the color of a few of the screens.
( 05/15/2012 – 05/23/2012 ) Changed Run Completion so it now works even if you don’t get a 1000 foot time ( on 1/4 Mile Databases ). Some tracks in England and Europe don’t have 1000 foot times so we made some changes for those customers.
Added another calculation for the Run Completion Mile Per Hour. This one seems to work better than the other one in testing this month.
Modified the NHRA tech card because NHRA cannot seem to use the same printer each week…
( 04/08/2012 – 05/15/2012 ) Exciting news! You can now Pick Multiple Prediction Formulas at once! On the drop down Prediction Formulas List on the bottom right of the Predict ET or Predict Throttle Stop TAB you can select Average Prediction Formulas and a box will appear asking you to select which Formulas to include. See picture below: You will actually see the screen changing until it comes up with the final answer. On slower computers I would not choose too many formulas, each formula added takes time to calculate.
We also refined the TAB for Car Setup so you have more options on data entry. Keep in mind that Crew Chief Pro will automatically fill in these fields for you, all you need to do is change what has changed. Also, make sure you enter ALL OPPONENTS. We transfer all of them to the Finish Line Manager Screen automatically.
( 05/15/2012 ) Part B. Also, did you know you can now change the background colors? Simply double click on the Run Data background colors and pick your own. You can also change them in the Prediction TAB using the same method.
( 04/07/2012 ) Announced new version – Now it is Crew Chief Pro 7.50 . What we added is the building blocks of more impressive prediction formula with adjustable logic. Testing is underway now. Eventually you will have prediction Rules setup so you can decide how aggressive certain weather changes will be dealt with. 7.50 has a more robust database engine that will eventually lead to Rules implimentations. Rules could be something like Do Not Factor Humidity or Dew Point below a certain Level. Then between this level and another level it should be this much effect. Then between this level and this level higher we want a more aggressive adjustment. We also added a separate page for Carburetors, Fuel Injection, Turbocharged and Fuel Injected, and Super Charged setups. 7.50 has a more robust data entry capacity.
( 02/18/2012 – 04/05/2012 ) Made changes to the logic to stop runs that are started but never finished into the Prediction program. This will stop a dead run from confusing the software. Further changes were made to the LIVE TIMING section so now when you select a Date just the classes that ran that day will show. This also means that just the racers names will appear that ran that day also. Further refined the sorting order capabilities. We also had 1320go.com change the file format so it will sort easier and work better within Crew Chief Pro. Since we were able to race at several tracks that had Live Timing we made many improvements to the features. You will especially like the automatic loading of YOUR runs into Crew Chief Pro. A great time saver since it will automatically enter your run, the Weather, and your opponent’s information in a milisecond of time.
( 01/12/2012 – 02-/18/2012 ) Changed the Vapor Pressure Prediction formula to be more responsive. Adjusted the Grains Prediction Formulas also for the same reason. We ran a few IHRA Races so we updated their tech card. If you go to an IHRA race test it out. We used a Kodak printer and we aren’t exactly positive it works the same way as say a Lexmark printer might.
( 11/20/2012 – 1/11/2012 ) Added Air Density Ratio to the Run Data form and the Prediction Screen. We calculate the difference between the baseline run and the current conditions also. Added Text Messaging Timer control so you can change how often text messages are sent. Hundreds of other minor things were improved also.
( 10/09/2100 – 11/20/2011 ) We added the ability to link live weather for the Porta Tree weather station. We added better logic on the Finish Line Manager TAB. We also made improvements to the Run Completion TAB so if you run 1/4 Mile you can choose between two formulas. The 1000 foot one, and the new 1/8th Mile to 1000 Foot Split Formula. You can even furnish your own factor for this formula below the drop down list. We improved out Text Messaging area to look up settings for you. We also changed the look of the Fonts used throughout the program. You can now RIGHT CLICK on the Run Data TAB and choose a different Font used throughout the main Crew Chief Software program. Did You Know that you can also change the picture behind the Weather Data Area? You can, just double click on it and put your own picture in its place.
( 10/08/2011 ) Added Norwalk Raceway Park to the list of Tech Cards that we print. They use a very small tech card so some printers won’t pick it up properly.
( 09/08/2011 – 10/04/2011 ) Improved Finish Line Manager by now automatically populating the drop down list with every Opponent you have ever entered. So Make Sure you Enter your Opponents! Next time you run this person Finish Line Manager will tell you where to expect them at every interval so you can decide if you want the stripe or not.
( 09/01/2011 – 09/08/2011 ) Revised the HP Correction Formula logic and factor. Now it returns a factor that is easier to understand and more logical. Adjusted the Crew Chief # 1 Formula when there is a large swing in the Adjusted Altitude ( Not the DA ) so it reflects real world examples better.
( 08/04/2011 – 08/22/2011 ) Many New Changes! We found an issue when using Density Altitude to Predict. On some customer’s computers the internal designation to use DA was replaced with Adjusted Altitude which caused the DA Answer to be incorrect. We have fixed this. We added the ability to TURN OFF Certain Predictions by simply RIGHT CLICKING ON THE PREDICTION. This will make it invisible, right click again to bring it back. When you Disable a prediction it will NOT appear on the Text Message on your phone. We will soon add this to the Pager Output also. We also developed a new Crew Chief #1 formula for Large Swings in Adjusted Altitude. If you look hard you will see a Check Box next to Weather Station Adjusted Altitude on the Prediction TAB. This will turn on or off the aggressive prediction for large swings in Adjusted Altitude. So far in testing the aggressive prediction has been dead on but your results may vary. We also made many changes to the Tech Card Printing module. Under the Button that reads “Adjust Printout” you can now move the entire report up, down, left, or right by any number of spaces. The reason we did this is the new Kodak Printers seem to move everything over to the LEFT, so now I can force the printout to the right 3 spaces and it all works perfectly. Most will not need this feature but some using a Kodak printer will thank me.
( 07/12/2011 – 08/03/2011 ) FOR PERFORMAIRE WEATHER STATION OWNERS: We revised the Default Communications module for these weather stations. If you were having issues after long periods of time then this update will help. YOU MUST CHECK the box under the Weather Station SETUP TAB that reads DEFAULT COMMUNICATIONS. Then SAVE the Weather Station Settings, and restart Crew Chief. We also added a check box on the Factors Screen TAB that says “Show Baseline Date and #”. If you check this box then the Baseline Date and Run Number will appear on the Prediction TAB. We revised the Crew Chief #1 Formula for large swings in Adjusted Altitude so it should predict better. More changes are being made for the HP Factor and several other formulas for large swings in weather, stay tuned for these updates.
( 07/04/2011 – 07/12/2011 ) Added a New Prediction Formula. This one is based on Horse Power Correction Factor. It is now on the bottom of the list. There is also a Factor for this on the FACTORS TAB. You can adjust it yourself but future versions will automatically adjust this when using Calculate Ratios.
( 07/03/2011 ) Refined the Mechanical Throttle Stop Predictions and Calculate Ratios Calculations. This will work better for NON Electronic Throttle Stop racers ( you know who you are – the guys and gals with the bolt under the foot pedel or on the linkage ). Previous versions did not accept low ratios such as .0035, now that is all fixed. Also refined the Log Book Screen which had a code block that was in commented out and could not run.
( 07/02/2011 ) Added new communication process for the Performaire Weather Stations. Seems to work better but let me know. Modified some code for the Log Book Screens so they work better.
( 05/05/2011 – 0629/2011 ) Added Barometric Pressure Adjusted 60 Foot to the Estimated 60 Foot Drop Down list. Worked great in testing when the Baro dropped 20 points. Changed the weather station code for Performaire Weather Stations to be less pickey about the core weather readings. Refined the settings for other weather stations as well.
( 04/20/2011 – 05/03/2011 ) Added new Estimated 60 Foot drop down list choices. Now you can even have the Estimated 60 Foot automatically update for changes in Vapor Pressure and Relative Humidity. I found out the hard way that 89% humidity kills my car in 60 feet much worse than I ever imagined. So I fixed it, and my last run would have been perfect with my new changes. See picture below:
( 04/12/2011 – 04/19/2011 ) In an attempt to let racers personalize Crew Chief you can now change the Picture behind the Weather Information Area on the Run Data TAB ( where you enter a run ). In this version you will see an image of fire behind the weather information. You can change this to any image you want PROVIDED you can see the Text Prompts for the weather. If you want to put a picture into this area it will work just like the picture screen does. Follow these directions:
1) Double click on the area inside the weather information. A box will pop up wanting you to Choose A File. If you want to see a bunch of images then Double Click on “Graphics”. We have preloaded a few background images. These files start with “back-” in their file name. Pick any image you want and see if you like it.
2) You can change the color of the Weather Information LABELS by Double Clicking on the Text that says “Weather and Track Info” located just above where you enter the weather readings. This will change the text from White to Black -or- vice versa.
3) You can also ROTATE the image by RIGHT CLICKING on the Image. Each Rich Click moves it 90 degrees.
( 04/07/2011 – 04/11/2011 ) Refined the Database lookup procedures. Before when you picked a database and made a mistake the program would not look up the info again. Now we allow you to pick several times on a new run without a problem in case you make a mistake. The proper information will carry over including Dial In, Throttle Stop ( if they apply ), tire pressures, launch RPMs etc.
( 04/01/2011 – 04/06/2011 ) Many improvements: When selecting weather from the weather file Crew Chief will now fill in AM or PM depending on the time for you. Weather pick list will now include AM or PM in the list. Added the ability to have new Wind Database that allows you to create your own Description in the list. Now you can create wind factor descriptions such as Vegas Left Lane, or Vegas Right Lane etc. You can even create one that has almost no wind factoring at all, as if the wind is blowing but completely blocked by the bleachers ( such as Vegas last weekend ).
Added more features in the LIVE TIMING area. This in ongoing but the ability to work better with 1320go.com is improving everyday.
( 03/08/2011 ) For RacePak customers we can now send weather data to RacePak automatically. After you download the run and put the run into Crew Chief you can click on Get Weather in RacePak and we will send the weather over. See picture below.
( 02/05/2011 – 03/03/2011 ) Added the ability to see Split Time Intervals and MPH Pickup from 1/8th – 1/4 Mile by double clicking on 60 Foot label. See picture below:
Added the ability to change from Converter Stall to Driveshaft RPM by double clicking on Converter Stall. If you want to determine TIRE GROWTH you just need to enter Driveshaft RPM at the finish line and we will calculate it for you. Requires that you have the Gear Ratio entered in the Database / Combo Menu. Just subtract the tire rollout from this number. See picture below:
Added more descriptive information on the Throttle Stop Calculate Ratios TAB. Now when you try to calculate ratios we tell you how we arrived at the answer. Remember, pick only ONE RUN to calculate throttle stop ratios. For example, I ran a 8.96 on one run, then took 21 numbers out and ran a 8.86. Crew Chief told me I was a .0210 to .01 ratio, which is correct. See picture below:
Also added user selectable FONTS for the TABs across the screen. These same Fonts will be used on the Prediction Form TAB, and Opponents TAB. They will also carry over to the LIVE TIMING Menu. To change them RIGHT CLICK on the TAB that says RUN DATA, then choose another Font.
If you have a slower computer and Crew Chief takes a long time to load then DOUBLE CLICK on the Christmas TREE graphic on the top right of the Picture Screen, this will stop the pictures from Rotating every 2 seconds and will make the program load faster. Only necessary if the computer is older. This will speed loading time by about 2000 percent on older computers. New ones won’t see any difference.
( 01/30/2011 – 1/31/2011 ) Added a Save Opponent Button on the Opponent TAB to make sure you save your Opponent Information properly. We also added a form of Checks and Balances for throttle stop racers on the Optimal Timer field. If you enter a number in the Optimal Throttle Stop that we don’t like we will pop up a box and tell you. Hopefully this will eliminate improper throttle stop ratios people have been forcing the program into.
( 01/05/2011 – 01/24/2011 ) Added improved Finish Line Decision Maker formula for 1/8th Mile. Improved the Late Night Formulas to work with the Estimated 60 Foot formula first instead of last. Add a super cool icon on the bottom right of an Eagle with an American Flag that JUMPS out at you when you hover the mouse over it ( not useful at all just cool ). Improved the process with Davis Weather Stations. Added the ability to automatically look up the new 1320go.com Live Timing program. We no longer have to make the customer find the file that runs 1320go, we do it all behind the scenes for you so it is One less headache.
( 12/1/2010 – 12/16/2010 ) Added 2 new formulas to the Prediction Formula drop down list. Both are Late Night Formulas, one is based on Temperature, and the other on Humidity. This focuses the Prediction on one or the other weather parameter and has been very accurate, even if not using it late at night. Improved the Text Messaging internal functions to make it faster also.
Added improved 1320go.com support and fully tested improvements in Las Vegas. Automatic launching has been improved, and speed of transfer of run information has been improved by about 400%.
( 10/27/2010 ) Added an Automatic Paging button in the weather station setup tab. This will automatically click the Pager Output button whenever you are on the prediction form. This will be useful for those of us who forget to click Pager Output before going up for a run. Karen Comstock suggested it, and after it happened to me I made the change.
( 10/26/2010 ) We are part of the JEGS.com Track Tested products on jegs.com. Pretty cool, we have added some things for their new version that will appear automatically on regular versions. Stay tuned… more to come.
( 10/20/2010 ) Added an 8th picture to the picture screen, right above the Click Here to Start Button. Just double click on it to change it. We also changed the dimensions of the other pictures.
( 09/25/2010 – 10/04/2010 ) Updated the Calculate Ratios TAB under Predict. Now when you run a throttle stop and want a ratio it will not pop up a box after you accept the new ratio. It will instead move into weather ratios only. This will be less confusing hopefully. It will be completely re-written over the winter but this will help a bunch. Updated the Las Vegas Tech Card. Updated the Columbus, OH Tech Card.
( 09/19/2010 ) Added 3 digits to the Barometer field for weather stations that give us 3 decimals of readings.
( 09/18/2010 ) Refined the weather gathering module to verify enough information has come over. We do this to stop zeros from appearing in some weather fields when the weather station does not give us all the information we need. Added a Weather Counter to the Prediction Form to let you know how many times we have received weather information. When this continues to update it’s count you know it is working properly.
( 09/17/2010 ) Added Las Vegas Bracket Race Tech Card to the database ( both front and back side will print ). Big News! Added the ability to Add your own vehicle type to the drop down list for Wind Factoring. This is pretty cool since you can define your own everything for wind control. You can name your own vehicle as I did below. Plus when you select a vehicle we will fill in the head wind, tail wind, side wind, cross head and cross tail wind factors. If you want to change them simply do so, when you press enter on the Cross Tail Ratio we will save them to the database.
( 09/16/2010 ) Added Davis Instruments with Paging Capability. Added the ability to change ratios on the Run Entry Form for use with the Optimal Throttle Stop Settings. Added more fields for the Opponent tracking module for use with Finish Line Manager. Adjusted the information for Wind Factors when choosing vehicle type from drop down list. Improved the weather gathering in all weather stations especially if a weather reading was missed.
( 09/13/2010 ) Refined the Team License screens for Estimated 60 Foot Times.
( 09/12/2010 ) Added Wind Speed and Wind Direction to the Davis Instruments module. Refined the Wind Factoring even furthur for all weather stations.
( 09/08/2010 ) Big News for racers with Davis Weather Instruments. After getting my test station back I was able to finalize the Davis Link. It is now part of our weather station selection for the Non Paging version. The paging version will be added when I see one with a pager that I can hook into. Probably about a week for that. This took an entire week to finish and many improvements are planned.
( 08/25/2010 ) Added a Drop Down List to choose ETs on the Finish Line Manager TAB. Now all you need to do is pick the ET you think your opponent will run from the list and Crew Chief will fill in all the ETs for you, then tell you how many feet and inches you will be apart at every interval so you will know if you should take the stripe or not.
( 08/25/2010 ) Added new Wind Control procedures to better improve the effects of wind on ET Predictions. We added more quadrants and more logic to the predictions for wind. You may have to review your wind factors after testing to see if the changes need new factors. We have refined where a head wind starts, where a side wind starts and other quadrants. Basically everything changed in the wind factoring.
( 08/02/2010 ) Huge News! We revamped the Opponent Comparison again, this time we added How Many Feet apart you were in Feet and Inches at every interval. You can now have it do the calculation based on Reaction Time also in the Difference Field. We added an Actual Distance Section to the right of the Difference. Take a look below:
( 07/30/2010 – 07/31/2010 ) Changed a bunch of things on the Opponents Screen for use with 1/8th Mile. It will remove anything after the 1/8th mile automatically and restore it for 1/4 Mile.
( 07/25/2010 – 07/26/2010 ) Worked on 1320go.com integration Saturday, Sunday, and Monday to make it work better and faster. They still have some things to do but our part works far better. Also, when searching by Database the list is now sorted alphabetically. Had this working before but changed something in testing and forgot to bring it back. Brenda Corker brought that to my attention.
( 07/24/2010 ) Refined the Text Messaging module to be less of a pain when all the info is not entered. Changed the NHRA Tech Card front and back alignment.
( 07/22/2010 ) Added Payee to the Tech Card front side plus Owner. We added Pants to the back of the tech card also.
( 07/19/2010 ) Refined the Quick Message Area. Added a procedure to turn off your screen saver and power saving features automatically. Let me know if your screen saver works anymore with Crew Chief running.
( 07/15/2010 ) Changed the back of the NHRA tech card, moved the jacket and pants etc. down a line.
( 07/13/2010 ) Changed the Ratio Calculation Page with updated Average Ratios. Turned off Weather Gathering when entering runs to stop the program from delaying keystrokes while typing in information. Added Rotating Pictures on the Picture screen ( the screen you see when you enter Crew Chief ). This will rotate through all the pictures automatically every 2 seconds.
( 06/30/2010 ) Added the ability to send Quick Messages to the Pager or Text Message that can alert your teammate about the run you just made or info another racer passed to you. You can type anything you want and it will be sent to the Pager or Text Message. Or you can select from commonly used Phrases such as “Lost .01 in 60 Foot”. If you click one of these Phrases then click send it will be sent out immediately.
( 06/19/2010 ) Added Oahe Speedway in Pierre, SD Tech Card. Added RESET FACTORS Button on the Factors Screen to reset the factors to the default.
( 05/28/2010) Fixed problems with Weather Station Data when entering a new run. Problems with wrong weather were due to incorrect time stamps on each weather reading. This is fixed now.
( 05/24/2010) Added a RED BOX on the bottom left of the prediction form for use with Performaire Trailer Stations. This box will show how many readings we have taken and will be easier to see than before. If this number stops moving up then Crew Chief is no longer receiving information from the weather station.
( 05/22/2010) Added Temperature Factor check when starting program. This will limit some factors from getting too high and causing problems with predictions.
( 05/21/2010) Change the prompt on the screen when No Throttle Stop was used to avoid confusion.
( 05/20/2010) Added a Error Box if you enter a bogus ET in the 1000ft time. If you still do it won’t screw up the Run Completion anymore.
Added Improved See Similar Runs to the Prediction Form. Now it will ask if you want to see other databases also if there are no runs with similar weather in the current database.
Fixed the Auto Club Raceway tech card.
( 05/14/2010) Updated NHRA Tech cards again. Changed the button that says “Weather On” to “Weather is On” or “Weather is Off” to be easier to understand.
Added New Check Boxes on the Predictions Screen that say “Use Wind In Prediction” and “No Wind in Prediction” because some were having problems understanding the old Button. This is much more descriptive now.
We added a couple of new features on the Opponents Menu.
Added new NHRA Tech Card. ( Morons keep changing it for no good reason ).
( 05/11/2010) Changed the code for Text Messaging so it will work properly with Performaire PC weather stations.
HUGE NEWS: I added Finish Line Manager to the Main Entry Form as a new TAB. This is really cool. Before Finish Line Manager was buried under the Live Timing part of Crew Chief ( it is still there also ), however we felt not enough people could take advantage of it, so I duplicated the functionality and brought it to the front where it will be easy to find and use. The ETs will be automatically brought over from your run, and your opponent info will be brought over from the Opponents area. You can simply type over the ETs and press enter, the program will instantly recalculate all the Intervals and tell you how many feet apart you and your opponent will be at every interval. Now it even works on 1/8th mile! The new TAB will be 2 over from Predict ET or Predict Throttle Stop.
* Added Text Message Password, Added Text Message Setup to the SETUP Menu. Found out the settings in GoDaddy.com email addresses if anyone is using one.
BIG NEWS! Added the abiltity to send TEXT MESSAGES and EMAIL Predictions! You MUST Have the Full Paging Enabled Version to do this and an activation code will be required. Here is how it works- On the Weather Station Setup TAB there is a CheckBox that says “Text Message Also”. Once you check this and setup the addresses properly then everytime you page it will also send text messages up to 3 phones or 3 email addresses or a combination of both. YOU MUST HAVE INTERNET ACCESS, AND A VALID EMAIL ACCOUNT TO MAKE THIS WORK! Call me directly, Don Higgins at (309) 208-1486 for help setting this up. If you have a pager you will get the same pages. But you can send a text message to anyone, anywhere in the world with the Predictions and they can help you decide what to do. Click Here to see all about setting this up.
Changed the colors on the screens so they are less gay ( wife originally picked them out ).
Added the ability to Right Click on the first Page called Run Data and choose different fonts for your own look.
Added New Track Temperature to 60 Foot Time Prediction. This is in it’s early stages right now but look for it to be super cool very soon. SEE BELOW FOR PICTURE!
Added New Prediction Formula based on Density Altitude and Grains ( in the drop down list – the last one in the list ) Grains only effects the last choice, all others still use regular prediction factors.
Added a Grains Factor to the Factors Screen.
Added Vapor Pressure to the Density Altitude Formula. Previously the DA Formula supersceeded the Vapor Formula, not anymore.
Improved the Estimated 60 Foot function. When you click into this field you can override the value without UNClicking the Check box.
Improved Margin of Victory Calculations.
Improved the weather station Pick Time form and logic.
Added new textbox to the right of Reaction Time that tells you exactly what the Delay Box should have been to be Perfect on the Tree.
Changed the LogBook printout to include Adjusted/Corrected Altutude from your Weather Station ( right below the Density Altitude from your weather station ).
Changed the Opponent Margin of Victory calculation to handle mutual red lights.
Made change to DA Calculation on the Prediction Screen. We allow your own number. Previously if you entered a number that was too far away from our calculation we would reset the DA to our calculation. Now we allow a much wider difference.
Fixed an error in the Predict Using Density Altitude Formula.
Added a great new feature where Crew Chief Software can now calculate your Estimated 60 Foot if you want us to. See the picture below. Say the weather gets worse by 900 feet, we will automatically calculate how much 60 foot you should lose automatically. Every time the weather changes so will the 60 Foot.
We have added to the Factors TAB the ability to change this also. In the future we will refine this even more but right now it works perfectly in testing.
We also changed the Live Timing Screen Reports slightly.
Added a double click to the Humidity label to change it to Wet Bulb readings for those weather stations that do not display Relative Humidity.
Made additional changes to the Team License area for changing current 60 foot times.
Changed the Adjusted Altitude for Performaire Trailer Weather Stations if they don’t have Oxygen Sensors. We were not pulling this info before and now we are.
Adjusted NHRA tech card alignment.
Changed the Team License section to eliminate problems when removing cars.
Added RIGHT CLICK on Run Date and Run Number fields so you can change the DATE and Number on STORED Runs without our help ( We store runs by the run date and run number so in the past if you had the wrong date or run number you had to call us to help you fix it – Not Anymore ).
We also added MASON-DIXON Dragway’s Tech Card. We added a back of this tech card also ( even though there are no printed fields ) for Sponsor Information and race wins the announcers like to know.
Added new fields to store original ET and MPH in the Opponent Information TAB. Now when you examine the Opponent Information to see how close a race was THEN do a Run Completion we will remember what the original ET and MPH were so the Opponent Information will always tell you what really happened in a race. If you forget you can NOW edit the fields on the Opponent Information TAB to the original numbers and save the run.
Added Performaire PC Paging Support for their new PC when you add their transmitter to it. We will be refining this in the coming weeks also.
Made DIAL IN on the Opponent Information TAB red in color since too many people did not see it.
Changed Wind Control in Performaire Trailer Stations.
Changed the Log View Printout by moving the Split Time Intervals down below the Weather Readings.
Changed some Team License items on the Prediction screen.
Changed some tech cards to better line up.
Added new Car Setup Features with expanded Jetting Information. If you run twin 4 barrels there is a picture of twin carbs, otherwise there is a picture of a single carb. This is setup in the Database Combo Menu, there is now a check box that asks if you use 2 Carburetors. We now have fields for all jets, air bleeds, squirters and float height.
Added a button on the main screen under Carb Jetting that will pop up a detailed picture of the jets.
Added Rocky Mountain Raceways and Woodburn Dragstrip to the list of Tech Cards that we print. ( Updated again )
Added new communication module to better communicate with weather stations. This should not require any changes on your part, but it will work better.
Added an interface to 1320go.com LIVE TIMING. This will work just like the ICARD system did. You will need an internet connection and subscribe to 1320go.com to make this work. ICard ( or Simcast as it is called now ) will still work perfectly also.
STAY TUNED: MORE CHANGES ARE COMING!
